'Unhappy and hopeless' - Turkish media turn on Jose Mourinho ahead of Man United reunion

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has been slammed in the media this weekend after the Turkish side drew 2-2 with Samsunspor in the Super Lig.

The former Manchester United manager's new club twice took the lead thanks to goals from ex-Premier League players Dusan Tadic and Allan Saint-Maximin but were pegged back on both occasions with Soner Aydogdu scoring the second equaliser two minutes before second half stoppage time. The draw leaves Fenerbahce fourth in the Turkish top flight, eight points behind leaders Galatasaray having played a game less than their great rivals.

Mourinho's team are unbeaten since losing 3-1 at home to Galatasaray last month but a couple of draws either side of the international break have soured opinion in the media for the once self-proclaimed 'Special One'. Former goalkeeper Volkan Demirel did not hold back in his assessment of the Portuguese head coach, stating on TV100: "Right now, Fenerbahce is mixed with unhappiness and hopelessness.

"We were all expecting something. We were expecting it from Mourinho, we were expecting it from the transfers made this year... We came this far, hoping that two months, two and half months would pass [and things would improve], but it is clear that this will continue..."

This sentiment was shared by ex-Fenerbahce midfielder Sergen Yalcin on Ekol TV who added: "Let's be a little proud of Okan's [Buruk, Galatasaray manager] successes and not criticize him. The guy has been making Galatasaray champions for two years.
