Ulster prop Marty Moore to have MRI scan on 'significant knee injury'

Ulster prop Marty Moore could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a "significant knee injury" during their defeat against Munster.

Moore went down clutching his right knee after making a tackle around the half-hour mark and was stretchered from the pitch.

The 31-year-old was due to undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday.

Ulster head coach Dan McFarland said he was concerned about the severity of Moore's injury when speaking shortly after the 15-14 loss to Munster at Kingspan Stadium.

Ulster said in a statement: "Marty Moore suffered a significant knee injury in Sunday's BKT URC game against Munster. He will have an MRI scan on Tuesday."

It is cruel timing for the tighthead, whose form saw him feature for Ireland A against an All Blacks XV in November.

Moore won the last of his 10 Ireland caps in 2015, having played in every game across two Six Nations title-winning campaigns.

He joins Will Addison (leg), Aaron Sexton (hand), Jude Postlethwaite (shoulder), Angus Curtis (knee) and David Shanahan (hamstring) on Ulster’s injury list.

There was positive news regarding Ireland internationals Rob Herring, Alan O’Connor and Tom O’Toole, who are due to reintegrate to team training this week along with Ian Madigan and could feature in Saturday’s United Rugby Championship game away to Benetton.

Ulster sit third in the URC but have lost four of their last five matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Police have launched an investigation after graffiti referencing Grenfell Tower was painted on Ulster's Kingspan Stadium.
