UFC welterweights Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal in alleged dust-up outside Miami Beach restaurant; police called to scene
Colby Covington scored a lopsided unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal when they met earlier this month at UFC 272, but apparently they have unfinished business.
The UFC stars were allegedly involved in an incident outside the Miami Beach hot spot Papi Steak on Monday around 11:30 p.m., according to TMZ, who obtained video of police at the scene.
A Miami Beach Police Information Officer didn't respond to messages seeking comment.
«He's over here swinging, trying to come at me, and I ran,» Covington is overheard saying in the video. "… How would he know I'm here?"
«You talk that s---, you gotta back it up,» Masvidal said in a video he tweeted and in which he tagged Covington. «That's how my city rolls, man.»
Masvidal, 37, is a native of Miami, while Covington now resides in the city. The former friends-turned-enemies exchanged heated words in the lead-up to their UFC bout, which was named Fight of the Night.
The defeat was Masvidal's third consecutive, including two losses to Kamaru Usman, in vies for the UFC welterweight championship.
Covington, 34, rebounded from his own loss to Usman with the victory over Masvidal.
