UFC star Jon Jones responds to Tyson Fury jibe amid 'game changer' fight claim

Jon Jones has taken aim at Tyson Fury once again with the UFC heavyweight champion vowing to knockout the boxer.

Fury has been searching for an opponent since defeating Derek Chisora in December after failing to finalise agreements with both Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. The ‘Gypsy King’ is reportedly targeting a return to the ring in September.

He has regularly been involved in a back-and-forth of jibes with Jones on social media. Fury has openly admitted his desire to take on a UFC fighter recently, with speculation over a potential contest with Francis Ngannou as well as Jones.

The Mirror reports Fury commented on a video of Jones moving around with UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, saying: “Jon Jones, imagine the amount of right hands I'd catch you with here.”

Jones responded by saying: "I have no reason to doubt myself against any man. Give me a few months in a serious boxing camp. I like my chances. I may just knock you out.”

Fury's promoter Frank Warren has said his next fight will be in the UK but described Fury's upcoming fight announcement as a ‘game-changer’. Meanwhile, Ngannou has been clear about his desire to test his boxing skills, even delaying his first MMA fight with new promotion PFL until 2024 in the hope of securing a high-profile opponent. Despite potentially facing an MMA star, though, Fury has no intention of stepping into the octagon himself.
