UFC star Francis Ngannou loses son

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Francis Ngannou’s 15-month-old son has died.

Ngannou confirmed the death of his son after posting on X on Monday night.

The circumstances surrounding the death of Ngannou’s son are unknown.

“Too soon to leave but yet he’s gone,” the Cameroonian wrote.

“My little boy, my mate, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now, he’s laying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he’s not responding.

“I was my best self next to him and now I have no clue of who I am. Life is so unfair to hit us where it hurts the most.”

Ngannou’s manager Marquel Martin posted online saying that he along with millions of others will be praying for him.

UFC star Conor McGregor was among the fighters and fans to send their condolences.

“I am so sorry to hear of your loss Francis, my prayers are with you and your family at this time,” the Irishman replied on X.

Ngannou’s coach, Eric Nicksick, added: “It’s been a heavy few days, words can’t express the pain we all feel for the Ngannou family during this time.

“Please keep Francis and his family in your heart, and may this be a reminder of the fragility of life. Say “I love you,” more often, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.”

Ngannou ended his UFC career with a record of 17 wins and three losses, including 12 knockouts.

After quitting the promotion, he signed with the Professional Fighter’s League (PFL), and he has since ventured into the boxing world.

In his first two fights, he lost to current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

After suffering a narrow defeat to Fury, Ngannou was knocked out by Joshua.
