UFC Paris: Israel Adesanya explains how Tai Tuivasa can beat Ciryl Gane

Israel Adesanya has given his thoughts on how Tai Tuivasa could defeat Ciryl Gane at UFC Paris.

This Saturday night in Paris, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will make its first venture to France after the country finally made mixed martial arts legal back in 2020. The promotion is doing everything it can to make this the biggest and best event possible, and that starts with the blockbuster main event between Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa.

These two elite heavyweights have incredibly different styles but as we all know, styles make fights – and this one has the potential to be an absolute banger.

Gane is the hometown favourite with Tuivasa being well aware of the fact that he’s walking into enemy territory. Alas, even with this being the case, ‘Bam Bam’ seems to be as calm and composed as he’s ever been heading into fight night.

One man who knows what it’s like to perform on the big stage is Israel Adesanya and during a recent interview, the UFC middleweight champion explained how he thinks Tai should approach this contest.

“I’d strike with him on the outside for a little bit, but then I’d have to get him on the fence and use my weight. If I was Tai, I’d use my weight on him. Tai is good inside with the elbows, when he gets a good flow going, especially when he’s on them, not when he’s against the fence.

“Even for takedowns, Tai can wrestle, why not? Create scrambles, create moments where the guy has to defend a takedown and then you get him on the way up. Tai has to make it ugly, but I’d say make it ugly against the fence first, or even if you get him down, just make him carry you for a little bit.”
