UFC London 2022: Molly McCann not living off the success of her viral KO over Luana Carolina

Molly McCann may have become an overnight sensation after scoring a KO of the Year contender against Luana Carolina, but she isn’t thinking about it one bit.

Instead her focus is solely on her next opponent Hannah Goldy whom she will face on the UFC‘s latest trip to London.

McCann, 32, absolutely starched her Brazilian rival with a stunning spinning-back elbow in the third round back in March.

And she joined the likes of Tom Aspinall, Arnold Allen, Paul Craig, Muhammad Mokaev and Paddy Pimblett on the top performers’ list.

However it’s not something that she’s particularly dwelling on anymore despite the attention she has received following arguably her most impressive performance of her career to date.

Speaking in a press conference, she said: “That spinning elbow means f*** all on Saturday doesn’t it.

“That’s not going to win me the fight living off the last fight.

“But what it has done it’s given me the belief and the mental fortitude to come into this one and know what I’m really capable of.

“I think you may have all really seen it last time I was here.

“I was calm. I was collected. I had my odd little jokes and my swear words here and there.

“But I’m really finding my feet in the UFC now and I just want to show consistency.

“Look, I’m actually fighting someone who I’ve actually got a reach on so I don’t actually have to force a fight for a change, I’m just going to be able to stick and move and have a good go.”

And while it’s no surprise Goldy is seen as a massive underdog, McCann says she’s fully ‘prepared’ for whatever comes her way on Saturday night.
