UFC London 2022: Curtis Blaydes not bothered entering enemy territory vs Tom Aspinall on Saturday

Curtis Blaydes was in a bullish mood ahead of his fight against Tom Aspinall in London on Saturday night.

American UFC heavyweight Blaydes is due to face surging British contender Aspinall at the O2 Arena on July 23.

As the away fighter it’s highly likely he will receive a hostile reception from the home crowd who will no doubt be cheering rather loudly for his opponent in the opposite corner.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday however the American defiantly claimed “they can call me a w****r but I don’t care.”

Here’s everything he had to say about Aspinall…

Blaydes acknowledged that Aspinall has “been very impressive” and said “he’s not your standard big slow plodding heavyweight.”

He also admitted that “he’s a respectable opponent” and insisted “he belongs in the Octagon.”

But he said he doesn’t care about being booed by fans at the O2.

And he added: “I don’t care.

“Do they know? You should put this in your articles. We can’t hear them.

“I can’t hear you so I don’t care at all.”

Coming into the bout, Blaydes is ranked at No4 in the division and is fresh off back-to-back wins over Chris Daukaus and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. His best wins have been against Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos.

However, that doesn’t mean he is taking his opponent lightly.

He continued: “I think he probably has some of the least experience because I’ve fought against a lot of old guys like Aleksei Oleinik, Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos.

“These guys, they’re legends, they’re probably going to end up in the Hall of Fame.

“So I don’t think he has much experience but on the flip side he’s younger, he’s faster, more explosive, so
