UFC fighter asks Conor McGregor to corner him against Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin

UFC bantamweight Brian Kelleher wants Conor McGregor to corner him for his upcoming fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s cousin.

Kelleher, 35, will have a tough task on his hands when he goes toe to toe with Umar Nurmagomedov next month at UFC 272 in Las Vegas.

And the American has called for reinforcements in the shape of the Notorious, who knows exactly what it’s like to share the cage with a Nurmagomedov.

Last weekend Kelleher tagged McGregor’s official Twitter account as he tried in vain to get his attention.

He wrote: “Hey Conor McGregor, would you like to corner me in my next fight at UFC 272 against Khabib’s cousin Umar?”

Unfortunately for Kelleher, McGregor has yet to respond to his cry for help, but his opponent couldn’t help but notice his tweet.

Umar piped up: “It’s not gonna help you, Brian.”

To which Kelleher replied: “What about God? Can he help me?”

Kelleher last fought two months ago in January, when he defeated Kevin Croom via unanimous decision, while Nurmagomedov submitted Sergey Morozov via rear-naked choke last time out.

Originally from Dagestan, the 25-year-old fights out of American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California.

And according to his coach Javier Mendez, he has all the tools to follow in his cousin’s footsteps and claim UFC gold.

Mendez told The Sun: “Umar is a different type of fighter than his cousin Khabib.

“But he is still going to do great and I feel he will win the title in three or four years.

 “[He’s got] great striking and great kicking. That they [fans] can expect. It’s a whole different flair. A whole different flair.

“You can expect to see everything from him.

“But one thing that is going to be different is – Khabib’s boxing has gotten on fairly well.
