UFC 330 results and analysis from Makhachev's record-setting victory - ESPN
MMA's pound-for-pound king, Islam Makhachev, remains on top of the MMA world following a record-setting 17th consecutive UFC win in the main event at UFC 330 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Makhachev outwrestled a game Ian Machado Garry to earn a unanimous decision victory and retain his welterweight title. Machado Garry did well to fend off takedowns and submission attempts from the champion, and even fought his way back into the fight after being knocked down by a Makhachev head kick in Round 2. But it wasn't enough to convince the judges.
Makhachev wasn't the only champion to retain on Saturday night, as strawweight queen Mackenzie Dern dominated Gillian Robertson in the co-main event to earn her first title defense. Like Makhachev, Dern leaned on her grappling advantage to control and outpoint her opponent on the judges' scorecards.
Brett Okamoto and Dre Waters broke down all the action from UFC 330 in Philly.
