Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk state of play as talks continue over Wembley date

Tyson Fury's fight with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk could still go ahead, according to the British World Heavyweight Champion's promoter Frank Warren.

Negotiations between the two camps have proven to be difficult as the fighters seek to arrange a bout to unify their respected world titles. Agreements had looked in place for a fight on Saturday, April 29 at Wembley Stadium.

It was understood that the purse would be split 70:30 in favour of Fury. However, Usyk's team were unhappy with the terms regarding an immediate rematch clause.

This led to the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion seemingly pulling out of the negotiations, with his team insisting they had done all they could to get the bout on. But, Warren remains optimistic a fight will be made.

He explained to BBC Sport: "I've sent (Usyk's promoter Alexander Krassyuk) a message and I've had one back. We're going to speak in a couple of hours' time.

"I want the fight to happen. It's a very important fight for boxing, it's an important fight for Usyk whose dream is to unify the titles and it's an important fight for Tyson to go and do what he set out to do."

There is still time for an agreement with the deadline for negotiations April 1. If the fight is called off, Usyk must take on mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois.
