Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte contract deadline in UK time and why fans may have to wait

It's deadline day for the contracts for Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte to be signed, as fans eagerly anticipate developments.

The WBC mandated heavyweight fight has faced significant delays, with purse bids being pushed back on no fewer than four occasions.

Frank Warren eventually won the bid, with a record-breaking offer, but there has still been little progress in regards to an official confirmation.

Fury's camp have been left frustrated by those delays, with the Gypsy King already penning his side of the deal, and Whyte has just hours remaining to put pen to paper.

Social media has been awash with reaction to that today, with a midnight deadline before the fight collapses.

However, one key aspect has regularly been overlooked is the fact that the deadline is not in UK time - meaning fans may have to wait until tomorrow (Tuesday) for a final outcome.

Instead, the deadline is in Mexico time due to the fact the WBC is based in Mexico City and Whyte therefore has until 6am UK time to put pen to paper.

Should a deal not be reached, it's likely Fury's camp would move away and look for an alternative fight in order to keep the Manchester fighter active.

Fury has his eyes set on a heavyweight unification bout but will have to wait until a winner has been crowned in the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

Delays have also been present in that bout, with it still being unclear where or when the heavyweight showdown will take place.
