Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora: Eddie Hearn reveals Del Boy turned down trilogy fight

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Derek Chisora turned down an offer for a trilogy fight against Tyson Fury.

Within the context of heavyweight boxing, there are few characters as outlandish or unpredictable as Derek Chisora. The 38-year-old is a veteran of the game and as we look ahead to the twilight of his career, it’s worth appreciating ‘Del Boy’ while he’s still active at the elite level.

He’s had many rivals over the years and with 12 losses on his pro record, it goes without saying that he’s had some ups and downs along the way. In the midst of it all, though, he’s maintained the entertainment factor that has helped set him apart from the rest of the chasing pack – and based on recent evidence, he’s going to continue that trend for as long as he keeps stepping into the squared circle.

The latest beef that he’s been featured in involves his former friend Tyson Fury.

The reason we say former is that ‘The Gypsy King’ wasn’t best pleased by Chisora predicting that Dillian Whyte would defeat him in their highly anticipated Wembley showdown earlier this year.

After Fury picked up the win, he made it clear that his association with Chisora was all but over as a result of what happened.

The two camps have reportedly been in talks ever since to discuss a possible trilogy bout between them but according to Eddie Hearn, there’s no deal in place just yet.

“Derek had an offer from the Tyson Fury camp,” Hearn said. “It wasn’t enough money, I’m not sure we’re gonna see that fight, but good to see Tyson Fury keeping his options open.”
