Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Frank Warren sets AJ final deadline to agree terms for fight

Frank Warren has given Anthony Joshua until ‘the end of this week’ to agree to fight Tyson Fury.

Earlier this month, the Gypsy King revealed that his long-awaited matchup with his fellow Brit is in the works.

Offered an immediate shot at redemption following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua has reportedly accepted a 40 per cent split of the purse worth £75million to fight Fury before the end of the year.

However, a deal to see AJ and Fury share the ring has yet to come to fruition, much to the frustration of many.

And according to Fury’s promoter Frank Warren, who is handling the negotiations from their side, Joshua is in danger of missing out on an opportunity to get himself back into the world title picture.

“First of all what everyone’s got to realise is this is the Tyson Fury show,” he told SecondsOut. “Tyson is the number one heavyweight in the world.

“It’s his title on the line. AJ’s ranked about number six at the moment in the WBC and that’s what it is.

“But we’re bending over backwards – I’m sorry, Tyson’s bending over backwards to make it happen. Let’s make it happen. There’s no reason why this fight shouldn’t go on.

“If it doesn’t go on, for any reason, it won’t be from our side. If it doesn’t go on I can’t believe that AJ – after what he’s come out and said that he wants to fight – that it can be down to him. So make it happen.

“This is it. We only have a short window to do this. By the end of this week we need this – it’s either on or it’s not.

“And if it’s not we’ll move on and they’ll do what they got to do. If it doesn’t happen, do not be looking at us. Do not be blaming us.”
