Tyson Fury screamed to ref to stop Dillian Whyte fight after uppercut

Tyson Fury made his way down to the ring last night with an epic entrance, eventually sitting on his throne as the Gypsy King.

His performance lived up to that billing as he put Dillian Whyte to bed in the sixth round with a beautiful, yet brutal, uppercut.

As this video further down this article shows, Fury knew as soon as he saw the Body Snatcher on the canvas that the fight was over and that it should be waved off, visibly pleading with referee Mark Lyson to end it.

Whyte was all at sea, stumbling around on jelly legs and unable to respond to the referee’s wishes from the fight-ending punch.

When Fury was asked if that was the best punch of career, he stated: “Even Lennox Lewis would have been proud of that uppercut.”

He wasn’t wrong in his assessment.

Fury was in total control of the fight throughout, landing nearly three times more punches than his opponent, and his were by far the more destructive, none more so than that perfectly struck uppercut.

This was the 23rd knockout of his career and there won’t have been many better.

Fury again reiterated that this fight was to be his last, and if it is, then it was a hell of a punch to end on.

The capacity Wembley crowd will be hoping that isn’t the last they see of their champion, who delivered once again to retain his WBC title.
