Tyson Fury's next opponent attempts to goad him with Manchester United support

Tyson Fury's next opponent Francis Ngannou has attempted to wind-up the British boxer by declaring himself 'Manchester United's favourite heavyweight'.

Fury is well-known to be a supporter of the Reds and has often claimed he would love to fight at Old Trafford. The Wythenshawe-born fighter will return to the ring on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when he faces Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion, under boxing rules.

In the build-up to the fight, both men have attempted to get under each other's skin and the Cameroonian/French MMA star may have taken things a step further by declaring his support for the Reds. Ngannou was pitchside in Las Vegas as United ended their pre-season tour of the US against Borussia Dortmund.

The 36-year-old even appeared on MUTV pre-match to discuss his love for the Reds. Donning the new United home shirt, Ngannou said: "It’s really cool, really amazing.

"It’s not often you go to the stadium, and you get to watch training and everything very close. I think they [United] have been doing it pretty good, they understand the hard work. In sport, you don’t fool people, if you cheat, you cheat on yourself and when you get the work done, the results follow."

Ngannou was spotted having a brief chat and hug with United's new goalkeeper Andre Onana who also hails from the African country, although the fighter revealed he had not previously met the former Inter Milan man before Sunday.
