Tyson Fury issues message after Manchester United 'disgrace' amid Erik ten Hag appointment

British boxing champion Tyson Fury is hoping Erik ten Hag can be a breath of fresh air for Manchester United after his appointment was confirmed on Thursday morning. Liverpool swept aside arch-rivals United for the second time this season and that alarming defeat was followed less than 48 hours later by the Ten Hag announcement.

Fury, 33, is gearing up for a blockbuster world title showdown with Dillian Whyte at Wembley tonight. A post-war record attendance of 94,000 fans will be beneath the famous arch as Fury puts his WBC belt on the line.

Putting his glovework to one side to talk about the latest goings-on at Old Trafford and beyond, Fury says he does not know too much about Ten Hag but, after becoming the successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Gypsy King says United must stop chopping and changing in the dugout. He will remain at Ajax until the end of this campaign.

Addressing the Ten Hag appointment and Liverpool match, United fan Fury said: "It's difficult times for Manchester United and being a life-long supporter to see them lose 4-0 to Liverpool was an absolute disgrace. [Ten Hag] will be a welcome change for sure and let's hope they can regain the glory days and get back to winning ways."

Fury added: "I don't really know much about the guy, I know he was a good manager at Ajax hence they got to the Champions League semi-finals. United have had a lot of management changes over the last few years since Sir Alex Ferguson... They can't stick with one manager!"

Back to the day job and Fury will collide with British rival Whyte, 34, over 12 rounds at the national stadium.
