Tyson Fury admits he was wrong after £10m fine decision ahead of Oleksandr Usyk fight
Tyson Fury has admitted he regrets not taking a £10million fine ahead of his first fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
The heavyweight unification clash was initially due to take place in February, only to be postponed when Fury suffered a nasty cut in sparring. To the surprise of many, the fight was quickly rearranged for just three months later.
At the time, Fury and his camp insisted the cut had fully healed and the Gypsy King contributed to a thrilling encounter which the Ukrainian hero edged on points. Fury has repeatedly refused to make any excuses for the first defeat of his professional career, praising Usyk’s performance on the night.

However, ahead of the rematch, Fury has conceded he would ideally have liked more time to prepare for the first fight. With the threat of a £10m fine hanging over his head for a further delay, he decided to go ahead with the May date.
"This time it's been a lot easier," Fury told Sky Sports. "I've done lots of sparring and I've been able to train properly, whereas before it's no secret that I didn't do a lot of sparring, hence I had a massive bounty on my cut eye.
"Thinking sensible, maybe I would have pushed it back a little bit and cost myself £10m, but it doesn't really matter because we're here now and I'm going to do the job on Saturday night."
Fury says he has moved on from the first fight, insisting he hasn’t needed to “process” the defeat. He said: “I haven't processed it at all. I've not done any processing.
