Tyrone will not appeal red cards after GAA's Central Hearings Committee decides to uphold them

Tyrone will not go any further in the appeal process after Croke Park's Central Hearings Committee (CHC) upheld four red cards last Monday night.

The players - Kieran McGeary, Pádraig Hampsey, Michael McKernan and Peter Harte - received their marching orders from referee David Gough as a melee broke out near the end of their Allianz League Division One clash with Armagh on 6 February.

Following Tyrone’s representations on behalf of the players last Monday night, the avenue of going to the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee (CAC) was open to the county board.

But it is understood they will not pursue this channel.

That would mean the All-Ireland champions would be without current Footballer of the Year McGeary, and three other extremely talented players for this Sunday's meeting with Kildare at Healy Park.

It is understood that a decision was taken by Tyrone last night not to go any further with their appeal, though they are said to be unhappy with the outcome.

Meanwhile, Armagh’s Greg McCabe had his case heard by the CHC last night after he too received a red card following the melee.

It is understood that the GAA has also upheld McCabe’s suspension.
