Tyreik Wright knows what he wants for both club and country

After finding the net for his club Bradford City, Tyreik Wright is now hoping to make a bit of history with the Republic of Ireland as they seek a place in the European Championships for the first time.

Friday next sees Jim Crawford's side take on Israel in the first leg of the play-off for next year's finals in Romania and Georgia.

Wright is part of a squad that includes the likes of Evan Ferguson and Aaron Connolly and is thrilled to have the likes of Connolly - now on loan at Venezia in Serie B - involved.

"I'm buzzing to have him there and I'm sure the whole team is," he told a press conference as preparations begin in earnest for the first leg.

"It's a massive confidence-booster for the group; he played Premier League for Brighton, he scores goals. It's healthy competition; we're pushing each other to be better players.

"Our attack is full of goals and assists, and as a winger I want to do my job.

"We have new faces in the squad and there are no worries that they won't perform. We are all looking forward to the first leg which is going to be a sell-out at Tallaght Stadium."

Aston Villa loanee, Wright, certainly did his bit for Bradford on Saturday last, when scoring and then providing an assist in a 3-0 win over Stevenage. After the game, Bantams boss Mark Hughes was full of praise for the County Cork native, who turned in a man-of-the-match display.

"I thought he gave us a good outlet and showed his quality," he said.

"He's obviously got pace that can take the ball up the other
