Two-time Cork All-Star Kevin Kehily dies

The death has taken place of two-time Cork All-Star Kevin Kehily at the age of 74.

The Newcestown club man appeared for the Rebel footballers from 1969 to 1984 with All-Star awards in 1980 and '82 - although he did miss the 1973 Sam Maguire triumph as he had stepped away from Donie O'Donovan’s squad to focus on his studies.

Kehily's first All-Star came at full-back - a season where they defeated Kerry in the league final - and at left corner-back two years later when the Kingdom defeated them in league and Munster final replays.

He won three Munster titles with Cork 1971, 1974 and 1983.

The teak-tough defender won All-Ireland minor and under-21 football titles with his county too while he was also part of the Cork hurling management set-up that claimed a famous All-Ireland three in a row from 1974 to ‘76.

A talented dual player, he won both football and hurling junior A championship medals with Newcestown as well as an intermediate football crown while he enjoyed senior football honours with divisional outfit Carbery in 1968 and ‘71.
