Two stabbed after street fight between suspected drug dealers in Swinton street
Two teenagers were stabbed last night after a disturbance in Swinton. The victims, aged 16 and 18, are hospital but their injures are not life-threatening.
Police were called to Mossfield Road just before midnight. Five men, according to police, suspected of being involved in drug dealing, were in a fight. GMP say that additional officers will be patrolling the area and will be targeting suspects under stop and search powers.
In a statement GMP said: "At approximately 11.30pm on 29 th September 2022, an incident occurred near to Mossfield Road/Cemetery Road, Swinton. During this incident it is believed two males aged 16 and 18 received injuries consistent with a bladed article being used.

"Swinton CID are currently investigating and anyone with information can contact them on 0161 856 5194. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
In a mesage to local councillors GMP said: "Last night information was received of a disturbance that had occured on Mossfield Road, Swinton. It involved five males suspected of being involved in drug dealing, which resulted in a 18 and 16 year old beign stabbed. Whilst the incident is concerning, rest assured a structured patrol plan will be in place and additonal officers will be working on overtime to provide high visibility patrols in the area and will be targeting persons under police stop and search powers."
In May police taped off a street in the same area for a number of hours following reports of a fight involving groups of young people. Ackworth Road in Swinton was cordoned off.
