"Two massive signings" – Journalist drops big claim as West Ham now targeting £26.1m-rated duo

West Ham United could pull off ‘two massive signings’ if they manage to bring Joakim Maehle and Christian Eriksen to the club, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Hammers are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer after another strong campaign under the tutelage of manager David Moyes.

According to the Daily Star, West Ham sent scouts to watch the Danish duo on Monday as they starred in their country’s 2-1 victory over Austria in the Nations League.

It’s claimed that several Premier League sides are interested in snapping up Eriksen following his successful stint with Brentford, who handed him a six-month contract back in January.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are believed to be monitoring the 30-year-old’s situation, while the Bees have reportedly offered him fresh terms to remain at the club.

Meanwhile, Maehle is also believed to be on the market after dropping down the pecking order at Atalanta and could be available for as little as £15 million.

O’Rourke believes Eriksen and Maehle, who have 140 caps for Denmark between them, would both be astute acquisitions for West Ham this summer.

He told GiveMeSport: “They’d be two massive signings for West Ham if they were able to pull off those deals for both players. Maehle is a quality right-back and has been a proven player for Atalanta, not just in Serie A but also the Champions League.

“It’s a position that West Ham are probably looking to improve on with the likes of Ryan Fredericks also leaving the club. So, I think Maehle would definitely be an upgrade on what West Ham have got there right now.”
