Two Manchester venues throwing Olivia Rodrigo parties for 'gutted' fans this weekend after Co-op Live cancels gigs

A number of smaller music venues in Manchester will still welcome Olivia Rodrigo fans this weekend after her two shows at the Co-op Live arena were cancelled.

The American pop star was due to perform at the brand new Eastlands venue over two nights on Friday (May 3) and Saturday (May 4). But two hours after A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's show was cancelled at the last minute on Wednesday evening (May 1), arena bosses took to X to announce Olivia's shows would also be postponed.

Fans have been left 'gutted' with some even 'in tears' after they had bought tickets and paid for hotels and travel to Manchester. "Absolute shambles two days before. Got a 12 year old daughter in tears. Plus money lost on hotels etc," Ian Skirrow wrote on X.

Katie said: "Non-refundable trains & hotels. People spending their hard-earned money in this cost of living crisis. People should’ve been given more notice of this. Its disgusting."

"You guys could have said this WEEKS before so fans staying in the city could get their money back, this is just embarrassing," another fan wrote.

But, in a bid to ease the blow, two smaller music venues in Manchester have announced they will still host any Olivia Rodrigo fans in the city this weekend. Whitworth Street venue Gorilla will host two listening parties on Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.

All ages are welcome at the events in the main bar. Posting on Facebook, Gorilla said: "We are so so gutted for everyone who was excited to see Olivia Rodrigo this weekend, we know how difficult it can be to organise tickets, travel & accommodation for a gig so if you are sticking about in town this
