Two arrested after man, 40, seriously injured in stabbing

Two people have been arrested after a 40-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing. Police say they were called to reports of a man sustaining serious injuries at an address in Cherry Sutton, Widnes at around 1.30am on Friday, CheshireLive reports.

He was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Two men, aged 41 and 35, has been arrested in connection with the incident. They have since been released on bail.

Detectives investigating the incident are now appealing for witnesses and video footage. Enquiries are said to be ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, with officers appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Det Sgt Paul Munnerley, who is leading the investigation, said: "As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any video footage. I’d urge anyone who witnessed this attack but has not yet spoken to police to contact us.

"Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 1656050."
