'TV off the wall vibes' - Rio Ferdinand's furious reaction to Manchester United Europa League exit to Sevilla

Rio Ferdinand has admitted he felt like ripping his television off the wall while watching Manchester United crash out of the Europa League.

United's hopes of adding a European trophy to their collection this season ended in tears on Thursday night as they were destroyed by Sevilla, losing 3-0 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate. Erik ten Hag's side had once looked certain to go through after taking a two-goal lead at Old Trafford but threw it all away in an epic collapse.

Harry Maguire once again proved costly after he gave the ball away on the edge of his box to allow Youssef El-Nesyri to get through and slot home the opener just eight minutes in. The early setback shellshocked United who had no reply in a boisterous Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

There were most humiliating errors to come as David de Gea positioned himself poorly at a corner to allow the ball to loop over his head then failed to control the ball after charging miles outside of his box to give El-Nesyri yet another gift of a goal. It was an infuriating night for the manager and supporters alike, with club great Ferdinand expressing his own anger as well.

The former centre-back tweeted after the final whistle: "Bad bad night…. TV off the wall vibes!" accompanied by an angry face emoji.

As Sevilla go on to face Juventus in the semi-finals, United instead now turn their attention to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. They will have to pick themselves up quickly for the match as they will come up against high-flying bogey team Brighton at Wembley.
