Turner and McClements in finals action at Para Swimming World Championships

Nicole Turner and Barry McClements were both in finals action in the Para Swimming World Championships in Manchester.

In the women's 200 individual medley, Turner got off to a strong start in the opening 50 metres, but was unable to sustain the pace and finished in fifth.

Reflecting on her performance she said: "To be honest I’m really happy with that, I got a bit too excited on the first 50 and then I paid for it on the last 50 meters but that was about as enjoyable as a 200m individual medley gets."

Turner has three events remaining in the championships.

Newtownards’ McClements also finished fifth in his final, the 100 metre butterfly.

Róisín Ní Riain is back in the pool on Thursday and looking to build on her silver medal success in the 100m butterfly.

She competes in the 100m backstroke final during tomorrow’s evening session.
