Tributes to boy, 16, killed in police chase as inquest opens

A grieving grandfather has paid a moving tribute to his grandson who died in a car crash at the age of 16.

Kyle Andrew Graham Hudson, from Stockport, was being pursued by police when the Toyota Yaris he was driving left the road in Bramhall in the early hours of November 13, 2020. He tragically passed away the following day at Salford Royal Hospital.

At the opening day of his inquest, Kyle’s grandfather Graham painted a picture of a much-adored teenager. He told the court: “We, the family, were Blessed on December 12, 2003, the day our beautiful boy was born. Laughter played a big part of his life. He was very obsessive and was diagnosed with ADHD at an early age.

“This only fuelled Kyle’s passion. He was drawn to anything with speed. He was a very bright boy. Kyle is a complete joy to be around, he was never afraid to show his love.

“He would be inventing things to do with speed but they were practical. Kyle grew up a smart and respectful boy.

“We, the family, are blessed with ADHD and Kyle's close group of friends were very respectful and smart kids. Kyle would stick up to kids who are being bullied. This incident was a blip for us. He was not afraid to challenge the norm if it was unjust.

“It is really hard to put into words how a boy can be the life and soul of a family but not be overbearing or annoying. There are no words to describe Kyle. It would feel like I am the only person in the world at the time [when I was speaking to him]. It was just him and me.

“I have tried with words [to describe Kyle]. Words cannot describe what I feel. One word that comes close to describing him is ineffable — which means too great for words.”
