Transfers: Drogs bring in Lincoln City pair on loan

Drogheda United have confirmed the double loan signing of Hayden Cann and Oisin Gallagher from Lincoln City.

Kevin Doherty's Drogs have a good relationship with Lincoln, with the likes of Freddie Draper, Sean Roughan and Elicha Ahui previously impressing at Weavers Park on loan.

They'll hope for similar impacts from the two latest young recruits.

Twenty -year-old Cann came through the Imps' academy system. The defender signed his first professional contract with the club in October 2020, making his senior debut a few days later in the EFL Trophy as a substitute in a 3-1 victory over Mansfield Town.

The 2021/22 season saw Cann go on loan to non-league outfits Gainsborough Trinity and Lincoln United before returning to Gainsborough Trinity on loan for the 2022/23 season.

He signed a new deal with Lincoln City last July before joining National League North side Peterborough Sports on loan. In 22 appearances, he scored three times.

Midfielder Gallagher, 19, joined Lincoln in the summer of 2021 from Derry City. He impressed with the Imps youth sides, and signed a three-year pro deal in December 2021.

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international made his senior debut in a 3-0 EFL Trophy victory against Barnsley in August 2022. Gallagher joined Barwell on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 season before joining Hayden Cann on loan at Peterborough Sports in October 2023.

He came back to Lincoln in January, making his League One debut against Blackpool on New Year’s Day.

"They both really wanted the move and obviously did their own homework on us, and spoke to the lads who have been here previously," said Doherty.

"You only have to look at Lincoln at the weekend, Freddie Draper and Sean Roughan were both starting for them, and I’m
