Transfer insider: NUFC now eyeing world-class PL & CL winner this summer; same agent as Howe
Newcastle United are reportedly now eyeing up a move to sign Joe Gomez this summer.
After the arrival of Ibrahima Konate in the summer, Gomez has found himself out of favour under Jurgen Klopp, and in a World Cup year, it puts his future at Anfield in doubt.
The England international has been limited to just 14 matches in total over all competitions so far this season, and so will surely be looking for a move in order to get more game time.
Writing in his latest piece for Anfield Watch, ‘transfer insider’ Graeme Bailey has revealed that the St. James’ Park faithful are one of a number of clubs who would ‘happily take’ Gomez in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Everton, Fulham are also in the mix, and the player is ‘hugely concerned’ about his future, including with the national team.
There is no doubt that Gomez has quality, emphasised by the fact that he has won both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League with the Reds.
Klopp even went as far as to claim that he is ‘world-class‘ and put him in the same bracket as Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, high praise indeed for the 24-year-old, who still has a lot of potential left to fulfil having joined Liverpool so young.
Given his lack of playing time, the Magpies would be the perfect fit for him ahead of the World Cup, and the fact that he shares the same agent as Eddie Howe and Ryan Fraser may mean that this could be an easy deal to do.
