Transfer insider moots 'unbelievable' player tipped to replace Haaland for Leeds move

Valentin Castellanos is one to keep an eye on this summer at Leeds United as the Whites look to strengthen their squad in the transfer window. 

This is according to the transfer insider Dean Jones who has been talking to GIVEMESPORT about Jesse Marsch’s plans for the upcoming months.

The Whites are already up and running ahead of the window opening next month with an agreement announced for the signing of the RB Salzburg midfielder, Brenden Aaronson.

And it appears Marsch could be looking to explore his connections in his homeland with the New York City forward, Castellanos, believed to be an option this summer.

With the fitness of Patrick Bamford coming under huge questioning over the 2021/22 campaign, Jones believes the 23-year-old Argentine forward could be an option the Whites look to:

“New signing Brenden Aaronson was the long-term primary target and there will be links with other US-based players, with the name of New York City FC’s Valentin Castellanos one to keep an eye on,” said Jones.

“He’s a 23-year-old Argentine forward and already boasts 53 career goals for NYCFC.”

Interestingly, the attacker has even been tipped to replace Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund, a player who has Leeds links and has even been mooted for an Elland Road move one day. As well as being described as ‘unbelievable’ by Ronny Deila, who has been his head coach over in the MLS.

This is certainly a potential signing which would make a lot of sense for Leeds given Marsch’s background in the MLS and Leeds’ need for a goalscorer.
