Transfer insider: I'd "completely understand" if Man Utd “now turn to” signing 405-goal machine

Transfer insider Dean Jones can ‘completely understand’ if Manchester United move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Speculation is continuing to mount over the 33-year-old’s sensation’s future after he entered the final 18 months of his current contract, with a new deal not appearing to be on the horizon.

Lewandowski has established himself amongst the world’s elite performers in recent years, registering an eye-watering 336 goals and 69 assists in 364 appearances for Bayern, winning seven Bundesliga titles, one Champions League crown and three DFB-Pokals along the way.

However, in a recent interview with Sky Sport Deutschland (via 90min), the Poland international revealed that he is ‘open to everything’ as he contemplates his next move following an extremely successful spell in Bavaria.

90min also claim that United are among the teams to have been contacted by Lewandowski’s representatives and have ‘asked to be kept informed about his situation.’

The report goes on to state that Lewandowski’s representatives have begun weighing up their options should he depart the Allianz Arena as it’s believed the Poland international is aware of interest Bayern hold in Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland.

In recent times, United have showcased their willingness to bring in ageing strikers to the club, signing the likes of Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo when they were all past their peak.
