Tragic 'life and soul of the party' dad sent heartbreaking text to mum before being found dead

A popular young dad-of-two text his mum to say "I want out" shortly before police found him dead, an inquest has heard.

Beloved welder Kristopher Allenden, known as Krissy, left family, friends and the wider community around his Redcar home heartbroken after his tragic death. A hearing at Teesside Coroner's Court heard the 31-year-old suffered from anxiety and depression, and had been drinking alcohol daily before he died.

On Friday, September 2, the court heard from Mr Allenden's mum, Susan, where a statement from her was read out, saying his life had gone on a downward spiral after he split from the mother of his two children, and that drinking had become a daily occurrence. She said he got into a lifestyle which led him to being stabbed in May last year, in which he suffered a punctured lung.

Tragically, the situation worsened on December 17 last year, according to our sister site Teesside Live, when he sent his mum a message at 4.30am with a photograph saying "F*** this s***, I want out". She alerted police who found his body in a house in the North East town's Charlotte Street later that morning. A toxicology report showed that at the time of his death Mr Allenden had a level of alcohol in his system which was more than four times the legal driving limit. He had also taken cocaine.

The inquest heard that in the weeks leading up to his death, Mr Allenden's mental health was deteriorating. He spoke of feeling suicidal and was encouraged to contact the crisis team. However, his mum said he had expressed that he would never take his own life, and wouldn't do that to his family and friends.
