“Kate has been, and will continue to be, a great MP and a servant to the people of the constituency, she will be a tough act to follow for whoever is selected," she said.

“This constituency has been my home for over thirty-five years. My daughter attended Flixton Girls School and I have proudly served as a councillor here in Urmston, representing the place I love for over a decade.

“I have a solid track record of campaigning in the constituency on a range of issues and am a strong voice standing up for our communities.

“I led the campaign to Save Trafford General A&E which culminated in a thousand people marching through the streets to save our local services, and I continue to host the NHS Party in the Park.
