Traffic stopped on M66 and drivers face queues on THREE motorways

Drivers faced long delays on three Greater Manchester motorways following an incident at one of the region's busiest traffic hotspots. Queues built up on the M60, M62 and M66 this morning (December 18) ahead of rush hour.

Traffic was stopped following a crash involving a car and a motorbike. Greater Manchester Police says the motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Traffic was unable to join the M66 from the M60 clockwise as a result of the incident.

Queues were forming on the M60 and M62 approaching Simister Island as a result. There were also delays on the M66 southbound passing the scene on the opposite side of the motorway.
