Tourists slam UK holiday destination as 'chaotic and overpriced'

With the summer holidays in full swing many of us will be packing up the car and heading on a staycation. One of the most popular places in the UK to visit is Devon, which features beautiful coastal towns and pretty countryside.

The area is used to welcoming visitors and is known for its attractions and hospitality. One place in particular which is a firm favourite with tourists is the seaside town of Salcombe.

It’s such a popular spot that it’s even been named the second home capital of the UK, while the resort has even been compared with mainland Europe. However, not everyone feels the same way about the holiday hotspot, DevonLive reports.

Disgruntled visitors have taken to Tripadvisor to voice their disdain for the town - and more than one has said they've been put off returning anytime soon. From parking charges to shops being shut, nothing went to plan for these unfortunate holidaymakers, and they made sure to make their experience public to warn others of the same unfortunate fate.

One visitor wrote: “Not impressed! Well what can I say! Nowhere to park so we went to the park and ride to find you could park but no buses were running from there. Bus stop was 300 metres away but there were no buses for an hour.

“Went with my elderly parents, who are unstable on their legs, we ended up walking to the town which was not ideal. Very overpriced on everything. We decided we would catch a taxi on the way back as buses were nowhere to be seen! We rang 4 taxi ranks up and couldn't get one anywhere. In the end I walked to get my car! All uphill! I left my parents down the bottom and went and picked them up! Don't bother going
