Tour Championship rankings: From Scottie Scheffler to No. 30 - ESPN

ATLANTA — While the PGA Tour has announced a revamped postseason and competitive model for the 2028 season, there's still plenty to play for in this season's finale at East Lake Golf Club this week.

The winner of the Tour Championship will take home the FedEx Cup and a $10 million winner's share of the $40 million purse.

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler is looking for his third victory of the season, which would likely seal his fifth straight PGA Tour Player of Year award. Tiger Woods (1999-2003) is the only golfer who has accomplished that feat.

Wyndham Clark, Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick would also have a solid case with a victory at East Lake.

A handful of golfers in the 30-man field will also try to secure their spots on the rosters for the upcoming Presidents Cup, which will be played Sept. 24-27 at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago.

Veterans Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay and others can bolster their chances before U.S. team captain Brandt Snedeker makes his six captain's choices Tuesday.

1. Scottie Scheffler

Scheffler had hand, foot and mouth disease during last week's BMW Championship in St. Louis but still grinded to tie for 12th at 7 under. While slow starts have plagued Scheffler at times this season, that hasn't been the case at East Lake. He opened with scores of 65 or better in the three of the past four Tour Championships, including a 65 when he captured the FedEx Cup in 2024.

2. Rory McIlroy

McIlroy said he was «lost» after finishing 66th in the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee, but he turned things around in St. Louis. He was in the mix to win the BMW Championship on Sunday until a bogey on the par-5 17th. He finished
