Tottenham identify Harry Kane replacement and other Man City transfer rumours

Tottenham are planning for life after Harry Kane and have settled on Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan as his replacement - according to reports.

Speculation over the England striker was at fever pitch last summer and Manchester City were publicly priced out of a high-profile swoop for him.

Kane expressed a desire to leave Tottenham before a would-be move was effectively blocked and the three-time Golden Boot winner pledged his future to the north Londoners.

With a year less to run on his contract, the Three Lions captain should be available for a lower fee during this next window and City continue to view him as a top target.

Having failed to replace Sergio Aguero when he departed for Barcelona, figures in the Etihad Stadium boardroom are also monitoring Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland as clubs prepare to take advantage of a £64million release clause in his contract. That is set to activate at the end of this season.

City were handed a stark reminder of Kane's all-around quality on Saturday afternoon, though.

Indeed, the 28-year-old produced a masterclass against the Premier League champions - scoring twice and playing a part in creating another - to blow the title race wide open.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, current club Tottenham consider Martinez to be an ideal replacement should Kane move on this summer. He would cost around £60million from Inter.

Elsewhere, those two moves (Kane and Martinez) could spark a chain of events that leads to Inter eyeing up a deal for City striker Gabriel Jesus.
