Tottenham 'confident of keeping Kane and plotting Eriksen move'

Tottenham are reportedly confident of keeping Harry Kane after his options for a summer exit appeared to be reduced by Manchester City’s move for Erling Haaland.

City, whose interest in the England captain was rebuffed by Spurs last summer, are set to complete a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland.

Sportsmail understands that a suitable financial package - which would make Haaland the Premier League's highest-paid player on more than £500,000 a week - has been given the nod.

City are now expected to trigger the 21-year-old striker's £63million release clause at Borussia Dortmund and, if all goes according to plan, what is likely to be a five-year deal should be sealed in the next week or so.

Manchester United’s bid to lure Kane rested on them appointing Mauricio Pochettino, but they have reportedly snubbed the former Tottenham manager in favour of recruiting Ajax's Erik ten Hag as their next boss.

Kane is therefore likely to stay at the north London club, according to The Times.

Spurs, who are also considering a move to bring Christian Eriksen back to the club after his successful spell at Brentford, while they are keeping tabs on Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Tottenham are on course to finish fourth in the Premier League and claim the final Champions League qualification spot.

The 29-year-old have two years left on his contract.

He recently hinted that his next step would depend on playing in the top-tier of European competition and Antonio Conte staying as head coach next season.

It is unlikely that Kane would move abroad, having set a target of breaking Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals. He presently has 178.
