Tottenham: £222k-p/w ace 'needs lot of convincing' to join Spurs

Tottenham may struggle to convince Juventus forward Paulo Dybala to sign for them this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Dybala looks set to be available at the end of the season, but Jones has indicated that Spurs is not his first-choice destination for the next step of his career.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at Juventus in June, and it has been confirmed that he will not be signing a new deal.

There is no shortage of interest in the playmaker, who has reportedly caught the eye of six clubs across Europe, including Tottenham.

Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid appear to be leading the race for his signature, as things stand.

Tottenham tried to sign Dybala in 2019, but they fell short on that occasion as the player ended up staying in Turin.

Jones has suggested that they could struggle to entice the 32-cap international to north London this time as well.

Speaking about Dybala, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he needs a lot of convincing to join Tottenham right now, just as he needed convincing the last time they came in for him and failed to do it.”

Spurs could significantly improve their chances of signing Dybala if they finish inside the top four this season.

Dybala, who earns £222,000-per-week, has become accustomed to playing in the Champions League at Juventus over the last seven years, and it seems unlikely that he will be content to drop down into the Europa League or Europa Conference League next term.
