Tottenham: £20m star 'would like' move to Hotspur Way

Tottenham target Djed Spence wants to move to Spurs this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his team at right wing-back, and he looks to be closing in on bringing Spence to Hotspur Way.

Tottenham have already been busy in the transfer market by adding Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster to their squad on free transfers.

They have now turned their attention to Spence, who helped Nottingham Forest gain promotion to the Premier League last term while on loan from Middlesbrough.

It was recently reported by The Guardian that Spurs have agreed a deal with Middlesbrough for the young defender worth in the region of £20m.

Bridge has acknowledged that there has been interest from other clubs to sign Spence, particularly from Forest, who would like the player on a permanent basis.

However, Bridge has informed GIVEMESPORT that Spence would prefer a move to Tottenham, although he feels the deal may be held up by the 6 foot 1 full-back’s international commitments.

Bridge said: “My understanding, I think Nottingham Forest, the other interested side, there might have been one or two more, I’ve been given the indication that Spence would like to join Spurs.

“I do think him being away with the Under-21s has delayed it a little bit, and it might even be delayed a little bit longer because I think he’s going to go on holiday straight away. I don’t know that for certain, but I think he will be going away.”

Conte has traditionally trusted experience over youth, and bringing in Perisic and Forster this summer has given a further indication that he wants battle-hardened players in his squad.
