Tottenham: £19.8m ace is 'not going to be happy' with Conte
Lucas Moura might push for a move away from Tottenham this summer, according to ex-Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.
The £19.8m-rated attacker had emerged as a key player during Antonio Conte’s first few months in charge, but the Brazilian has recently lost his place in the side.
Prior to the January window, the 29-year-old had been one of the standout players under Conte and was arguably outperforming both Heung Min Son and Harry Kane.
He was directly involved in eight goals in Conte’s first nine games in charge, including a goal and two assists in the Boxing Day victory over Crystal Palace.
But since the turn of the year, Moura’s form has dropped off dramatically, with his only goal coming in an FA Cup tie against League One Morecambe at the beginning of January, while his solitary assist was almost two months ago.
Coinciding with Moura’s dip was the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski, who’s made an outstanding start to life in the Premier League and has already dislodged the former PSG winger from the side, starting the last seven top-flight games on the bounce.
As a result, Moura has played just 58 minutes across that period of games and Kulusevski’s impact means that it’s difficult to see where his next start is coming from.
Asked whether he believes Moura might ask to leave this summer if his fortunes don’t improve, he told GIVEMESPORT: “For sure. I don’t think he’s going to be happy not playing. No player is going to be happy not playing.
“You have to look at whether you’ve been playing consistently well, playing well enough to warrant your first team place, and if you have been playing well enough and you’re not in the team, then you’re going to have a discussion with the manager.”
