Spurs would have moved six points clear of the Gunners today had they beaten Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and even though their north London rivals had two games in hand, their goal difference was superior.

It wasn’t to be for Spurs though, who put in a lacklustre performance on the day and allowed Brighton to dominate proceedings for large portions of the game.

The Seagulls eventually got their just rewards in the 89th minute, when Leandro Trossard picked up an unfortunate deflection off of Cristian Romero, sold Eric Dier a cheeky feint and slid the ball past Hugo Lloris and into the far corner.
