Toto Wolff says it's time to move on from the 2021 Formula 1 season

Mercedes Team Boss Toto Wolff says that it is time to move on from the 2021 Formula 1 season, with him labelling it as a brutal campaign as his team and Red Bull fought tooth and nail for the championship.

The 2022 season has taken a great few steps nearer in recent weeks with each team – barring Alfa Romeo – officially launching their car and each team and driver currently in Barcelona testing their new machines.

Indeed, it feels like it is properly time to draw a line under the 2021 campaign and Toto Wolff is in agreement with that sentiment too.

Speaking to the press in Barcelona, Wolff agreed with last year’s rival Christian Horner that it is time for everyone to look ahead to the season coming, rather than going over what has been:

“I agree with Christian that we need to move on.

“Now it is about 2022. The game is on again, all points are [reset] to zero and [there are] new opportunities and new risks.

“It got fierce at times and brutal but there is a lot at stake. It is the Formula 1 World Championship and there is the fighting on track and the fighting off track for advantages so that is ok.”

The 2021 season was gripping but it also left a bad taste in the mouth at times given how hard the two teams were fighting.

Compelling stuff nevertheless, though, and now all eyes are on 2022 ahead of what could be another really enjoyable season for Formula 1 fans.
