Tony Watt haunts Motherwell as Steelmen fail to end winless Premiership run in Dundee United defeat

Motherwell were haunted by former striker Tony Watt as their winless Premiership start to 2022 continued in a 2-0 defeat to Dundee United.

The Steelmen hit the bar inside a minute when Sean Goss cracked the woodwork, before hitting a free-kick which found the roof of the net.

Despite creating chances in the first half, again Graham Alexander's were punished for not taking them.

Manchester United loanee Dylan Levitt's shot from outside the box was clinical and sailed into goalkeeper Liam Kelly's top corner in fine fashion.

United signed Motherwell's top scorer Watt in the January transfer window and the stars aligned for him to score his first goal for his new club.

His goal after the hour mark ended the game as a contest and Motherwell now drop to fifth in the league, having not won any of their Premiership games this year, now on a six-game winless top-flight run.
