Tonbridge Angels winger Jephte Tanga says they fear no one and is confident of a successful season

In-form winger Jephte Tanga says Tonbridge Angels are afraid of no one.

Angels have made a decent start to the season, sitting 10th in National League South after 10 games.

Tanga has been instrumental, scoring six goals since his summer move from Maidstone, and is confident Alan Dunne’s side are in for a strong campaign.

They visit Maidenhead this Saturday looking to bounce back from last weekend’s FA Cup third qualifying round exit against Torquay.

“I think we're going to do well this year,” said Tanga.

“We've got a good bunch of players and we're afraid of no one.

“It’s 11 men on each side and whoever's on it on the day will win the game.

“Maidenhead will be another tough one but I think we’ve got more than enough to give them a good game.”

Tanga’s goalscoring exploits earned the National League South player-of-the-year award for August.

His double in a 4-0 opening-day win at Braintree set the tone for a player who’s quickly become a crowd favourite at Longmead.

“But I think in football now, you need to score, you need to be effective in the final third as an attacking player.

“So I thought this year, let me try and go for it. So far, so good.

“I'm not really surprised because, to be fair, in the off-season I was working on my finishing, so it's paying off.”

Tanga had more defensive responsibilities at Maidstone but Angels boss Dunne wants him further forward.

“We play a back four here, whereas it was mainly a three at Maidstone, so I was playing wing-back,” said Tanga.

“Here, I'm much higher up on the pitch and so when I do receive the ball higher up, I'm able to do more.

“The sky’s the limit. I've just got to keep working and hopefully the goals start
