Tonbridge Angels sign striker Eddie Simon who holds English football record after scoring four consecutive hat-tricks

Tonbridge Angels have signed a striker who holds the record for the most consecutive hat-tricks scored in English football.

Eddie Simon bagged four successive trebles for Walton & Hersham during the 2022/23 Isthmian South Central season.

His record-breaking exploits helped him end the campaign with 43 goals as the Swans won promotion via the play-offs.

The prolific forward scored another 30 in his second year with Walton & Hersham and last season struck 40 for Kingstonian as the K’s made the Isthmian South Central play-offs.

Simon, a dentist by day, has moved up two levels to join Tonbridge in National League South.

“Eddie’s a proven goalscorer, - his record speaks for itself,” Angels boss Craig Nelson told the club website.

“He’s got that instinct around the box, but also the hunger and work ethic that fits perfectly with what we’re building here.

“I’ve admired his movement, his finishing, and most importantly, his mentality.

“He’s a great lad too - humble, driven, and someone who’ll bring real energy into the dressing room. We’re buzzing to have him with us."

Simon said: “After speaking with Craig about his plans for the club it was an easy decision for me to make the move here.

“It feels like a good fit for me at the right time and I'm proud to have joined a club as big as Tonbridge.

“I'm looking forward to contributing to bringing success to the club during my time here. I hope the fans will see me give my very best for the club and that I can help in giving them something to cheer about."

Fellow striker Gianluca Botti has left Tonbridge.

Botti joined the Angels from Lewes - then managed by Nelson - in January.
