Tom Rogic post Celtic future latest as playmaker blanks message from worried boss amid PFA investigation

Australia national team boss Graham Arnold has unveiled how he plans to get his team into shape for the World Cup - but he's got no idea if Celtic hero Tom Rogic will form part of that.

Speculation has been rife around the attacking midfielder after his shock announcement at the end of last season that he would depart Parkhead after nine trophy-laden years. He pulled out of his national team's crucial Qatar 2022 play-off matches in June due to personal reasons, with the Socceroos going on to beat Peru and secure a place on the biggest stage.

Ambitious Indonesian outfit Persija Jakarta supposedly made a lucrative offer to the former Celtic playmaker but he told them that it wasn't something he wanted to take up. Now a concerned Arnold says that while preparations are commencing ahead of the World Cup via two matches against New Zealand, the PFA are investigating where Rogic is and what comes next for him.

He told Fox Sport: “I haven’t read anything, I haven’t seen anything … I texted him and didn’t get a reply.

“I am concerned about Tommy but I know the PFA are looking into it.

"We’ve got a good extended squad now of 30 to 35 players fighting to get into a 26-man World Cup squad.

“The best way to give them a fair chance is to play two different teams against New Zealand, which gives players the opportunity to showcase what they’ve got before we select the squad and to create more depth.”
