Tom McKibbin fades after whirlwind start in Denmark

Tom McKibbin's blistering start to his third round briefly catapulted him into contention but it's home hope Lucas Bjerregaard who takes a two-shot lead into the final round of the Danish Golf Championship.

Dane Bjerregaard returned to the course early in the morning on day three to complete the final 10 holes of his second round after high winds had forced a suspension on Friday evening.

But he showed no signs of tiredness as he made five birdies on the back nine to hold a two-shot lead at the halfway stage.

And the two-time DP World Tour winner produced another back-nine birdie blitz in round three to get to 12 under par and lead by two from nearest challenger Romain Langasque.

McKibbin enters the final round seven strokes adrift in tied-17th, though he briefly powered into the reckoning following an extraordinary opening to his third round.

Starting on the back nine, McKibbin began eagle, birdie, birdie, before adding another birdie on the 14th to post 30 on the outward nine.

Another birdie on the second lifted him to seven-under par for the tournament, just one off the lead. However, a run of three bogeys in four holes saw his chances recede, though he did add a late birdie at the eighth to post an impressive round of 67.
