'Time is running out' – Ex-Celtic star issues Rangers warning to Aaron Ramsey and hits out at Man Utd kid

Former Celtic winger Kris Commons has warned that "time is running out" for Wales star Aaron Ramsey to make a success of his loan stint at Rangers.

Ramsey's move to Rangers was greeted with much fanfare, but the Juventus loanee has actually played only a bit-part since his deadline-day arrival from Turin.

Ramsey has started only one game since joining the Ibrox club and that was in the Scottish Cup against Annan Athletic.

He missed the 1-1 draw with Dundee United at the weekend owing to a "minor knock", meaning Ramsey has totalled just 94 minutes of action over the course of the five matches, including a thumping 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League, in which he could have been involved over the last three weeks.

And Commons, writing in his Daily Mai l column, believes the 31-year-old has to start making an impact if Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side are to beat Celtic to the title.

"Given the manner of the performance in Dortmund, and the form of Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo and John Lundstram, I felt Aaron Ramsey might not get into Rangers’ strongest team," he wrote. "Glen Kamara seems to have lost his way slightly which might have opened up a door for Ramsey, but he wasn’t in the squad at all due to injury.

"Time is running out for him to make any sort of appreciable impact at Ibrox. He was signed to make the difference in the title race, to help Rangers unlock stuffy defences with his passing and vision.

"This was exactly the kind of game where they’d have hoped he could help, but he wasn’t fit enough to play any part."

Rangers also signed Manchester United product Amad Diallo on loan in January.
